CBD in coffee is the next big thing. CBD had been getting a lot of attention recently and its popularity does not look to be slowing down anytime soon. Adding CBD to your coffee menu can boost a $4 coffee to $8-$12 with a negligible spend on your end.
Before you jump on the CBD train you may have a few questions about it. Here is a quick overview of CBD to give you some answers.
1. What is it?
CBD stands for Cannabidiol. It is one of several chemical compounds (or cannabinoids) that can be found in cannabis or hemp plants. Unlike other cannabinoids, CBD is not psychoactive so you do not get the same “high” or buzzy feeling you may get when you take other marijuana products.
2. What does it do?
While CBD effects everyone differently, it is most frequently used to help relieve anxiety, insomnia, nausea and increase focus and a sense of wellbeing. Some research even shows that CBD may also have anti-inflammatory properties.
3. Is it legal?
One of the biggest concerns people have about CBD is if is legal in their state or not. Since each state is has different laws regarding CBD it can get confusing. So we will try to make this as simple as possible.
CBD is completely legal in all 50 states if the CBD is derived from hemp (which the majority of CBD products are). However, if the CBD is derived from marijuana, it is not legal in every state.
The reason it matters whether CBD was derived from the hemp or marijuana plant is because CBD from hemp does not have any psychoactive properties. This said, new laws are being debated on a federal and state level daily so things could change quickly.
4. Why put CBD in coffee?
When you first think of CBD and coffee together you may think it is an odd combo but there is a reason! CBD coffee is meant to take away the anxiety and even nausea people sometimes feel while drinking coffee. This means that CBD coffee not only allows you to stay caffeinated with your favorite drink but can also help keep those coffee jitters away.
5. Who is using CBD?
Many people are interested in having CBD coffee and other related products. As a result many coffee shops, including cafes in New York City, have started to sell CBD products. You can try out CBD coffee at Caffeine Underground in Bushwick, Patent Coffee in Flatiron, Bubby’s in Tribeca, Flower Power Coffee Co. in Queens, Oliver Coffee in Chinatown and many more.
6. What types of CBD products are available?
CBD in the coffee industry has become increasingly popular and has been showing up in cafes everywhere. There has been huge margin of growth for CBD, especially in coffee shops. Due to the CBD craze, there is now a wide range of CBD products available. CBD can be incorporated into a cafe in many ways – added to coffee, smoothies, baked into pastries, grab and go items.
